Interview With An Atheist

This is the first time on Mystery Worlds, I am conducting a series of interview from different people with different beliefs. Today, I am proud to announce the first interview, with an Atheist, Gershwin Terumalai, from Mauritius Island.

Gershwin

Gershwin Terumalai

Mystery Worlds: ”Tell us about yourself…?”

Gershwin: ”OK, so my name is Gershwin, 24 years old. I’m still a student; second year of Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies. All my free time is spent mostly online, usually playing MOBA, MMO’s or watching movies and sitcoms. I’ve been an atheist for about quite some time, if I have to tag a number to it I would say around 6-7 years and happy being one.”

Mystery Worlds: ”Being Atheist mean what for you?”

Gershwin: Nothing, that’s the charm of it. In religion there are dos and don’ts whereas being an atheist you do whatever you want. There is no guide to being an atheist. People believe in religion, gods, supernatural phenomenon etc for all their life, clenching to this thought that there is something out there, a far greater power than ours but what if there isn’t? There’s no wrong in just believing in thyself.”

Mystery Worlds: “Do not you think Atheists rely mostly on religions that is why the main reasons they deny a supernatural force?”

Gershwin: “In my opinion Atheism is not something that deals only with religion. Religion as well as supernatural forces are all based on beliefs. Right now we are calling it religion, god, supernatural force etc, for some unexplained and ‘abnormal’ happenings but think about it, there’s so much more to discover and our species is so young.”

Mystery Worlds: ”What was your belief before becoming an Atheist, tell us more on your story….”

Gershwin:So I was a born Hindu, then I started to go to gospel lectures for about a year or so and then I started with Satanism but quickly left it. All religions are the same, they are baseless theories. In physics this is also common. There are baseless theories, made up to explain something that we do not comprehend but scientists investigate the matter to prove/deny this theory. Would a priest investigate and prove or deny religion?”

Mystery Worlds: ”As an Atheist, what do you think of the creation of this universe and humanity?”

Gershwin: “Well I completely reject the theory that some powerful God created man and removed one of his ribs to make a woman. What I do ‘kinda’ accept is the ancient astronaut theory. I have the charm to explain how we came here, or should I say how we were ‘made’ here. I know it might sound preposterous but people should think outside the box. If a species has been able to go to the moon after 60 years of just making the first flying airplane how can you reject such a theory? As I said earlier we are still young. We do not understand everything and in my opinion believing in something that has no grounds is absurd. In short, do you seriously believe we can explain everything?”

Mystery Worlds: ”Are you planning to release a book later?”

Gershwin: Neither book nor e-book. I don’t really think I have the skills and patience required for writing and also I don’t want all religious groups in my country to wreak havoc just because I have a different point of view of life. That’s sad but that’s how it is.”

Mystery Worlds: ”The last words for humanity?”

Gershwin: “You should believe! Everything I have said so far is what I believe in. If praying to God is what makes your heart happy then you should do it. The important thing is that you are happy with who you are and what you are doing. This is how it should be and this is what you should do; that is being happy.”

Thank you Gershwin for this interview… If there are other persons who want to give an interview, contact me.

Spirits

Often known as souls, spirits have always been a debatable matter to humans.  Sometimes we ask ourselves if they exist, thus this article will be based on them!

Personally, I strongly believe they exist. If we search acutely, no doubt human beings have known spirits in religions. All sacred books talk about it, in fact in some ancient communities which did not have religions, they did have a particular belief and they believed in spirits. According to religions and other beliefs, it is said that all living creatures possess a soul. Then when we die, the soul leaves our body to perform its responsibility. The soul is immortal to most religions, the main aspect here, what is the role of the soul? Why we have it and what evidences exist to support it? These are complicated to answer. Sometimes, I think what is the importance of having it! I will not talk about what science thinks on spirit here, this is another debate, I have written  this post to share only my opinion.

Firstly, I did have a contact with a spirit. When I was possessed in 2006, I felt and saw one which was tremendously scary. In fact, I am planning to share that experience in my future post as well! In addition, thousands of people claim they did encounter a spirit, even our ancestors, ancient beliefs and in all religions agree with its existence. Thus, to agree and totally sure with something, you have to experience it, right? So, for me no doubt the existence of spirits have been experienced. Nowadays, we are seeing also a rise in the scientist communities to believe in soul.

Many readers will not agree with me here, particularly Atheists and I respect their views! Another good point is our brain, which is the most complicated organ in our body! For majority of scientists, they think it is our brain the main cause to push someone seeing unexplained things in terms of hallucinations and so on… Additionally, people who have never contacted a spirit in their life, will be easily to not believe in it, hence, a variety of reasons can suggest that the existence of spirits is false, as we do not have proper evidences, etc…

I want you to share your opinion on this topic, and if you have a story to share, go to the menu and click on “Share your story here”, to send me your experience.
