Sea mysteries are fascinating! From sea monsters to mysterious disappearances, we always have a good stuff to learn from sea. The Mary Celeste is among the most mysterious missing cases we have until today.
What was the Mary Celeste?
Discovered in 1872 in the Atlantic Ocean, the Mary Celeste was a huge brigantine which used to transport materials. At that time, it was considered as a sophisticated ship and many appreciated the luxurious comforts in it.
The mysterious parts…
As no sign of the Mary Celeste had been reported, David Reed Morehouse, the captain of another ship, “Dei Gratia“, decided to sail to search for it. What is mysterious in the case of Mary Celeste, no members of the crew were found. Everyone was disappeared including a lifeboat. Mary Celeste carried thousands of alcoholic drinks as well as other goods. Most of them were still in the ship, however, some bottles were disappeared. It is said the crew had about 6 months reserved food which was untouched and non-contaminated. All the valuable things of the members were still there. Only the members were missing in a mysterious condition.
The questions remain, why they disappeared and how they did it? We know a lifeboat was missing, so, probably they traveled in it, but where they went? Why they left their valuable stuffs?
Some theories have been examined to know why the crew abandoned the ship and disappeared. On that day, the weather was bad. The level of water reached a bit more than 1 meter high in the ship even it did not sink. No doubt the crew escaped through the lifeboat. In addition, some believe the crew opened a kind of portal to be in another dimension just like the same in Bermuda Triangle. Finally, others believe the crew had contact with extraterrestrial beings.
We do not have a concrete evidence to support these theories!
We have nothing left to say on Mary Celeste! We do not have any strong proof what really happened. Bad weather, other dimension, extraterrestrial beings or whatever theories we have, they are still not rational!
